Some of the terms are common and obvious in meaning (such as &#8220;sinister&#8221;), but you will be less familiar with some of these examples. Where possible, the language of origin and meaning of the words have been indicated. <strong>Terms describing Left-handedness: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>bongo (Romany; meaning crooked or evil)<\/li>\n<li>cack-handed (British English; meaning excrement-handed, from the Muslim tradition of using the left hand to clean oneself and the right for activities such as eating)<\/li>\n<li>canhoto (Portuguese; weak and mischievous)<\/li>\n<li>gauche (French; awkward, clumsy)<\/li>\n<li>gawk-handed (Scottish English; where a &#8220;gawk&#8221; is a foolish person)<\/li>\n<li>kejthandet (Danish; cat-handed)<\/li>\n<li>mancini (Italian; crooked)<\/li>\n<li>molly-dooker (Australian English; where a &#8220;molly&#8221; is an effeminate man and &#8220;duke&#8221; is slang for hand)<\/li>\n<li>zurdo (Spanish; where &#8220;azurdas&#8221; means to go in the wrong direction)<\/li>\n<li>The English have a particular flair for describing left-handedness, and therefore deserve their own section:<\/li>\n<li>back-handed<\/li>\n<li>bang-handed<\/li>\n<li>clickey-handed<\/li>\n<li>coochy-handed<\/li>\n<li>cow-pawed<\/li>\n<li>dollock-handed<\/li>\n<li>gammy-handed<\/li>\n<li>kay-fisted<\/li>\n<li>Kerr-handed<\/li>\n<li>kitty-wesy<\/li>\n<li>scoochy-handed<\/li>\n<li>scrammy<\/li>\n<li>skiffle-handed<\/li>\n<li>skivvy-handed<\/li>\n<li>watty-handed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most cultures have employed value-laden insults to describe left-handedness.
